Boardgames were popular in the early 19th century. They were painted or scratched onto a piece of board, usually with a different game on each side. This board is very typical of the period with checkers appearing on one side and “Nine Man’s Morris”,  a more complicated version of the game “Tic Tac Toe”, on the other.
