This pine cupboard sat next to the parlor fireplace in the Elijah Williams house, built in 1760, in Deerfield, Massachusetts. The cupboard was purchased in 1879, for $10.00 by the Pocumtuck Valley Memorial Association. The upper section was intended for displaying treasured possessions such as china and glassware. The hinges on the cabinet door were probably made by Deerfield blacksmith John Partridge Bull. The red paint has been renewed, but the interior retains an old brown color and the edges of the shelves are painted green.
