This garment was made by two dressmaker sisters, Rosina Matilda and Anna Katherine Schick, as the going-away outfit for a third sister’s wedding. Mary Schick Koch, a German immigrant living in Greenfield, Massachusetts, received the dress as a present after her 1902 union with Gottlieb Koch of Turners Falls, Massachusetts. Mary only went about three miles away when she and Gottlieb set up house across the river in Turners Falls.
