About this item

Henry Flint wore this helmet in World War I (1914-1918), when he fought as a lieutenant in the 153rd Field Artillery Brigade of the 78th “Lightning” Division. Helmets became standard issue during this war, as an improvement to artillery shells caused spraying shrapnel and thus a need for better head protection.
