About this item

This doily was embroidered by a member of the Deerfield Society of Blue and White Needlework of Deerfield, Massachusetts. Members were inspired by designs from the colonial past. The society was active during the national Arts and Crafts Movement when an increasingly industrialized nation encouraged many people to prefer handcrafted items over those mass-produced in factories.
