Frances (1854-1941) and Mary (1858-1941) Allen used many Deerfield, Massachusetts, people as subjects for their portrait photographs. This 1895 picture shows Helen Hawks Childs and Samuel Childs seated before a keyboard instrument. Both are dressed in late 19th century clothing. The photograph appeared in Good Housekeeping Magazine in November of 1901.
