About this item

Mount Sugarloaf is in South Deerfield, Massachusetts, and from its summit can be seen the agricultural richness of the Connecticut River Valley.  As this postcard view shows, sheep were once raised by farmers, mainly for their wool, which was processed in New England mills.  Today, some farms in the area still keep sheep, but in much smaller numbers.
