About this item

George Bluh’s work as a teacher often assisted him in collecting information about Eastern European settlement in the Greenfield area of the Connecticut River Valley in Western Massachusetts. Conversations opened up when it became known that he had taught a family member at Frontier Regional High School or Greenfield Community College. The rapport that resulted allowed him to photograph the at-first-reluctant Mitch Mieczkowski, who, on a later visit from George Bluh, proudly shows this earlier photograph.
