About this item

Frederick S. Hyde is the author of both the words and music of this World War I (1914-1918) song, “Allies Arise!”. Published in Springfield, Massachusetts, in 1918, this copy belonged to Mary W. Fuller (1863-1951). Music was a powerful force to stir the emotions and the cover picture of the American soldier thrusting the butt of his gun at the enemy was intended to invoke patriotic fervor.
