Shutesbury is located is Western Massachusetts.  It was a farming community and also contained Locks Pond (now known as Lake Wyola), mineral springs, a manufacturer of wheels and broom handles, and a hotel.  Today the town retains its rural character. It was once bordered by Prescott to the east, but when the Quabbin Reservoir was created beginning in 1936, to provide drinking water for Boston, Prescott and three other towns were flooded.
