About this item

This teachers’ institute was to be held the week of April 12, 1852, from Monday morning until Saturday noon in Deerfield, Massachusetts. The institute was funded by the state Board of Education and was open to all public school teachers. Interestingly, the participants were required to bring not only the items needed to take notes, but also a Bible and a dictionary.
