This article reports on a meeting held in Amherst, Massachusetts, on September 8, 1835, calling for an anti-slavery convention for Hampshire, Franklin, and Hampden counties to be held in Northampton on January 13, 1836. It asked that all people who were in favor of emancipation attend this convention. The Greenfield Gazette and Franklin Herald was the newspaper in Greenfield, Massachusetts, from June 26, 1827, to June 27, 1837. It changed its name to the Gazette & Mercury.
