About this item

Approximately 407,000 American service men and women died while serving in World War II (1941-1945) and another 672,000 suffered non-fatal wounds. This is the Disabled American Veterans card of Frank R. Dahowski, Jr. (1910-1988). He was employed by the Luey and Abercrombie grocery business of Greenfield, Massachusetts, before enlisting in 1942, when he served as an Army sergeant. Due to his permanent debilitating war-time injury, he left the service as a disabled veteran, unable to work when he returned home. This card entitled him to medical and financial benefits.
