About this item

Ebenezer Tracy of Lisbon, Connecticut, a chairmaker working from 1774 to 1803, branded this chair three times under the seat.  It was  originally painted green, as a variety of woods (hickory, maple, oak, and chestnut) were used in its construction. The chair is equipped with a writing surface and storage drawers that lock.
