About this item

To members of the Pocumtuck Basket Makers of Deerfield, Massachusetts, the weaving technique of each basket was an important part of the design. In this case, the creator used an open weave to create a star or flower in the center of her basket. The flowers around the bowl were made by weaving in dyed pieces of raffia.
