About this item

In 1870, the John Russell Cutlery Company moved to Turners Falls, Massachusetts. The largest manufacturer of cutlery in the world, the company provided 200,000 square feet of floor space on four acres. Turners Falls was a planned community and the artist has created a pleasant image that was designed to encourage development of the town. In this view can be seen streets already laid out and vacant lots awaiting the building of future businesses and homes for mill workers and other residents.
