About this item

George Fisher used his garage, built in 1912, for the sale of Ford automobiles. It was located on Mt. Sugarloaf Road at the center of South Deerfield, Massachusetts. In the photo can be seen a horse-drawn carriage and the trolley lines of the Connecticut Valley Street Railway, capturing a turning point as automobiles gained in popularity and began edging out other forms of transportation. This building burned in 1935, but was rebuilt and as of 2006, was still in operation.
