About this item

This letter is said to be a “true copy” of one from a Regulator who supposedly fled to Canada during Shays’ Rebellion. However, while spelling in the 18th century was not standardized, the misspellings and strange phrasing used here suggest that actually, the author was a pro-government sympathizer in the guise of a Regulator, attempting to make them seem ignorant.
