About this item

This key to identify those residents buried in the Albany Road Cemetery in Deerfield, Massachusetts, accompanies the drawing, rendered in 1988, by Nancy Pennington after a plan by Allison Bell. In addition, both the types of stone and iconography are indicated. Most sites have both a headstone and a footstone and burials are sited with the head facing the rising sun. Since the graveyard was used for grazing by small animals, a fence enclosed it.
