Zur Hawks (1760-1844) was a tanner and currier who lived on the north half of his father’s homelot on the Deerfield, Massachusetts, street. In his will he left cash to his three married daughters and, with one exception, all the real estate was left to his only son. The exception was his concession of property to an unmarried daughter (“Little Mary Hawks”), a dwarf, who outlived both her brother and her father.
