Access the WordPress administrative interface

There are two sides to your WordPress site:

  • The public-facing site, or the ‘front end’, is what your site visitors see and interact with.  Anyone can access the front end: https://americancenturies.org
  • The administrative side, or ‘back end’ or ‘admin’, is where museum staff add and edit content for the site.

To access the back end or admin, you must have a username, which you can get from your site administrator. And you’ll need a computer attached to the Internet, with a modern browser (FireFox, Chrome, Safari).

To log in to the WordPress admin:

  • Enter your username and password, and click “Log in”. (If you do not know your password, request it from your site administrator.)

Once you have logged in, you will arrive at the WordPress Dashboard.

Change your password. Log out.

On the Dashboard screen (when you first log in) or on the All Pages list screen, there is an icon and ‘Howdy’ message in the very top right corner. When you hover your mouse cursor over it a menu will drop down. Choose ‘Edit Profile’ to change your password or ‘Log Out’ to log out.
