Lesson Groups

Lessons on American Centuries currently fall into the following Lesson Groups. Each lesson group is represented on the Lesson Main menu page. New Lesson Groups can be added by creating a new Lesson Group Menu page (see next section).

(note to self: sorting order of lessons? default to alpha? or pvma by hand entering ordinal number for each lesson?)

  1. History Lessons By Teachers
  2. Living on the Edge of Empire (mostly PDFs)
  3. Lessons About African Americans (mostly PDFs)
  4. Picturing America Lessons
  5. Everyday Life in a New England Town (curriculum)
  6. The Lessons of 1704 (curriculum)
  7. R.I.P. – A Grave Undertaking (curriculum)
  8. The Nile of New England – Unit 1 The Colonial Period (curriculum)
  9. The Nile of New England – Unit 2 The Federal Period (curriculum)
  10. The Nile of New England – Unit 3 The Progressive Era (curriculum)

Lesson Group Menu pages

For all Lesson groups:

  • Template: “Lesson Group Menu”
  • Parent page: Lessons
  • Featured Image: select an appropriate image
  • Content:
    • Title: Lesson group title, e.g. “History Lessons By Teachers”
    • Page Content: Intro text from the group’s menu page in old Centuries (example) These intros might need some editing.
    • Menu list of lessons for this group; This list of lessons is generated automatically: any lesson page that has assigned a parent page of this lesson group will appear in the list.

For Curricula the Lesson Group Menu pages also include:

  • In the Page Content:
    • Unit subtitle
    • Unit Central Questions
    • Authors
    • Grade Level
    • “Key Content Ideas” or “About”
  • In the accordian fields:
    • Introduction or Teacher Background
    • Overview or Intended Learning Outcomes
