Inigo Jones

Inigo Jones (1573–1652) was the son of a clothmaker and one of England’s first great architects. He traveled to Italy to study first hand the buildings of Palladio and to compare Palladio’s texts with the architecture of ancient Roman. His unique style blended classical elements into the design of a building. In fact, he is credited with bringing classicism to England.
