An international conflict primarily involving the United States and its allies (Britain France and Russia) against the so-called “Axis” powers (Germany, Italy and Japan). The war lasted from 1939 to 1845, although the United States did not join until the Japanese attack on Hawaii (Peal Harbor) in December of 1941.
