The original American Centuries website was a ground-breaking innovation…in 1999 when it first launched! Now, after a long and successful run, it’s being retired and this website is replacing it. The new American Centuries includes almost all the rich, fun and informative content from the old website in a fresh new look. The new and improved website also offers some important new features. The Search/Find presents a fundamental paradigm shift: visitors can now easily search across the entire website. A single search now returns all content types in one place: collection items (primary resources: artifacts and documents), activities (including dressups and tool demo videos among others), essays, lessons, topic sets, and exhibits. This “one big melting pot” approach also enables links to related items of all types; so for example when looking at an artifact, you can link to a lesson that uses the artifact, or you can link to a video demonstration of that artifact in use, or a biography about the artifact’s creator. Try it out!
