About this item

This view from Jutting Rock on Mount Sugarloaf in South Deerfield, Massachusetts, shows the Connecticut River and Sunderland, which is surrounded by farm fields.  The town was laid out circa 1718, using a typical pattern for the area.  Homes line a main street with their farm lots stretching from behind the houses to the river on one side, and ending at the mountains on the other side.
