About this item

Evangelist Dwight Lyman Ryther Moody (1837-1899) was born and raised in this house in Northfield, Massachusetts. He founded the Northfield Seminary for Young Ladies in 1879, and the Mount Hermon School for Boys in 1881.  The schools were on either side of the Connecticut River.  They were eventually consolidated and in 1971, they became the coeducational Northfield Mount Hermon School. The Northfield campus has since been sold and today the school is located only on the Mount Hermon campus.
