About this item

Julia Snow, a librarian from Greenfield, Massachusetts, served as a nurse at Walter Reed Hospital in Washington, D.C., during World War I. A friend of Julia’s took this picture of her with some of her patients in February of 1919, three months after the end of the war.  After her service, Julia returned to Greenfield.
