Born in Michigan, Agnes Higginson Fuller (1838-1924) grew up in Boston and spent many summers in Deerfield, Massachusetts. In 1859, she began taking classes for college-age girls at a school in the home of Harvard University Professor Lois Agassiz (1807-1873). Some of the topics covered, as indicated by these pages from her notebook, included botany and classification of natural events.
