About this item

During the national Arts and Crafts Movement (1875-1920), basketmaking was a popular craft. In Deerfield, Massachusetts, a group of women formed a society known as the Deerfield Basket Makers, which oversaw the workmanship, form, color and designs of the baskets, and exhibited and sold their work under the auspices of the Deerfield Industries.
