About this item

This Cape Cod style house was photographed between 1895 and 1902 by the Howes Brothers of Ashfield, Massachusetts. The house is at the corner of Lee Road and Route 116 in South Deerfield, Massachusetts. The two brothers traveled around Western Massachusetts taking pictures of houses, often with the owners posed in front. This portrait includes not only family members, but a team of horses as well. As of 2004, the house was still standing.
