About this item

Pictured here is Ina Allen of Deerfield, Massachusetts. Her photo was taken by Frances and Mary Allen, also of Deerfield (and distantly related to Ina). The Allen sisters were known for being female photographers when most were male, and for creating mostly artistic, rather than documentary, images. They supported themselves through the sale of individual photos, and by commissions for magazines and other print media.
