About this item

Frances and Mary Allen of Deerfield, Massachusetts, went to great lengths to take pictorial photographs. The perils of taking a photograph in a snowstorm with a heavy and cumbersome view camera are forgotten when the viewer looks at the serene snow-covered buildings. The picture was taken as a winter landscape, not as a record of New England’s challenging weather.
