Clad in a dressing gown, Edward (1828-1911) Hitchcock is photographed playing his cello. Mr. Hitchcock graduated from Amherst College in 1849, and stayed on to teach hygiene and physical education. Like his father, Edward Hitchcock (1793-1864), he was an accomplished musician.
