About this item

Pictured is the Russo farm in Deerfield, Massachusetts, and the caption on the back of the photograph notes that the tractor was “soon retired as being too awkward [and the] horses went back to work.” New technology was sometimes slow to be accepted. This piece of equipment was probably very noisy, if we believe the boy with his hands over his ears.
