About this item

Bridge Street is the center of the business district in Shelburne Falls, Massachusetts, and has been for over 150 years. The iron bridge at its end is the only one to connect Buckland and Shelburne Falls. This 1906 image shows some of the newer technology available with telephone and telegraph wires lining the south side of the street. Saturday night on Bridge Street was shopping night. Band concerts were held in front of Memorial Hall and people covered the sidewalks, indulging in hot peanuts, popcorn, and ice cream.
