Susie Walking Bear Yellowtail (1903-1981) was one of the first Native American registered nurses in the U.S. She attended the Franklin County Public Hospital of Nursing in Greenfield, Massachusetts, and was in the Class of 1927. Susie owned this bag, beaded with the Peyote stitch.
