Dr. William Stoddard Williams (1762-1829), physician of Deerfield, Massachusetts, was a customer of Northampton, Massachusetts doctor and druggist, Ebenezer Hunt. The list of supplies that he “Bot” includes ipecac, cinnamon, and 1/2 gross of corks for vials. The prices are named in pounds, shillings, and pence, even though the country was no longer under the rule of Great Britain. The new monetary system of dollars and cents was not in use everywhere immediately after the Revolution.
