The resignation of fifty-year-old Dr. William Stoddard Williams (1762-1829) of Deerfield, Massachusetts, from the post of surgeon in the militia of the Commonwealth is accepted and Dr. Williams is declared “discharged.” He was the son, father, and grandfather of physicians and studied medicine with Dr. Erastus Sargeant of Stockbridge, Massachusetts.  Dr. Williams practiced medicine from his home in Deerfield until his death in 1829.
