In 1840, William A. Castleman posted this notice offering a reward for the capture of George Jackson (Dudley), an enslaved man who had escaped. The notice included a physical description and Castleman’s promise to pay $50 if Jackson was apprehended in Virginia, and $100 if he was captured out of state.
