After a year of planning, the grammar school in South Deerfield, Massachusetts, was ready for construction, as detailed in this article from February of 1913. The school would be completed by December of that year. Over the course of the 19th century, one-room “district”  or “common” schools were consolidated into larger buildings with separate rooms for each grade.
