About this item

Schools for Indigenous children were often sponsored by churches. The Montana Industrial School for Crow Indians received support from the American Unitarian Association. These mission schools were designed to “de-Indianize” the children and introduce them to Christianity through education. This letter thanks Emmeline V. Ward for her anonymous contribution of ten dollars.
