About this item

In 1802, only seven years after the first American missionary society was formed, the Hampshire Missionary Society was established, drawing members from throughout old Hampshire County, Massachusetts. Their goal was to support ministers and organize churches and schools for departed family and friends who had migrated west to new frontier towns.
