Lake Pleasant in Montague, Massachusetts, was a tourist destination for those who enjoyed its peaceful setting and beautiful lake. Beginning in 1876, it became the property of the New England Spiritualist Association and for the next half century, Spiritualists camped there in the summer to attend seances and lectures, while enjoying the healthful benefits of spring water and clean country air.
