The December 1760 Deerfield, Massachusetts, town meeting considered five items of business. They annually deliberated the minister’s salary and provision of his firewood; eighty pounds salary was agreed upon. Other business included the removal of the old schoolhouse and the decision to reuse the lumber to build a ferry house at the foot of Pine Hill near the Deerfield River.
