About this item

Persis (Hoyt) Sheldon (1747-1830) of Deerfield, Massachusetts, was survived by three sons who, as was the custom in the early 19th century, received her estate. None of her daughters survived her, but if they had, they typically would have inherited the “moveables”- the household goods, while the sons received the real estate.
