About this item

Turners Falls, Massachusetts, was a planned industrial community founded in 1867, by Alvah Crocker. It is part of the town of Montague. Located on a bend of the Connecticut River, the natural falls were enhanced by a dam. Water was also diverted into a power canal, and large brick factories lined either side.  This postcard view was taken from a bend in the river, looking east and south.
