About this item

Pottery was one of the crafts produced in the early 20th century during the Arts and Crafts Movement. The potter, Chauncey Thomas (1877-1950), worked in Deerfield, Massachusetts, for a few brief years between 1909 and 1911. The young girl watching him was unlikely his assistant, but the photograph was so titled to capture the viewer’s imagination.
