About this item

The Pocumtuck Basket Makers of Deerfield, Massachusetts, employed the use of willow, grasses, and raffia to create baskets during the Arts and Crafts Movement. Sweetgrass, favored among Northeast Native American basket makers for its sweet smell, was used in part in these baskets.
