About this item

Worthington, Massachusetts, was named after Colonel John Worthington, a land speculator and lawyer from Springfield, Massachusetts. Incorporated as a town in 1768, Worthington is located on the western edge of Hampshire County. Like other agricultural towns in the area, Worthington suffered a long decline in population as agricultural economics changed during the 1800s.
